Description: This training course of designed to enable participants to understand and internalize human rights concepts and values, understand UNICEF’s position in the overall human rights system and the implications of this, acquire a sound understanding of how international law works especially in relation to international protection of human rights, and to provide participants with a basic understanding of rights-based programming and its implications. The course is divided into three modules which are further divided into sessions and is designed to be used at either a basic, optional or advanced level dependant on the participants. Module One covers human rights principles (CRC, CEDAW, creating a human rights culture outside UNICEF). Module Two looks at international human rights law and framework and the relationship to UNICEF. Module Three moves into a consideration of rights-based programming.
