We are very pleased to announce the availability of a downloadable version of the new briefing kit Trafficking in Persons, a Gender and Rights Perspective.  This replaces UNIFEM's earlier, and  very popular, kit Trafficking in Women and Children in the Mekong Sub-region.

Handbook on Trafficking

This Handbook on Trafficking marks a major milestone for both Myanmar National Committee on Women Affairs and United Nations initiatives to combat the issue of human trafficking in Myanmar.  It comes at a critical moment, as the scope and seriousness of the trafficking issue becomes more apparent. There is strong and growing international focus on   the need to eliminate this gross vioation of human rights.

TRACE Project

UNESCO Trafficking Statistics Project

The UNESCO Trafficking Statistics Project has developed a database attempting to trace the source of statistics on human trafficking and related issues and ascertain the methodology by which these numbers were calculated.

Human Trafficking Bibliography

This annotated bibliography contains on research carried out on human trafficking in the Greater Mekong Subregion over the last five years, and lists recent publications on human trafficking.

Asian Research Center for Migration

Provides tables on Thai migration data.

Directory of UN Trafficking Projects

A list of all projects in the UN which focus on trafficking can be found on the Women in Development website.

Human Rights Internet

The site includes databases on funders and human rights organizations and a bibliographic database containing abstracts of over 10,000 pieces of material relating to human rights. Non-governmental organizations receive free access.

Johns Hopkins University - Protection Project

The Protection Project is a legal research project into the trafficking and commercial sexual exploitation of women and children. It includes a database of criminal, labor, health, immigration and money laundering statutes of over 190 countries and dependencies.The database is in English but the statutes are also available in their original languages.

Interights

Interights provides two useful legal databases. The Interights International Law Reports highlight recent decisions of tribunals applying international human rights law. The Commonwealth Human Rights Case Law Database provides summaries of recent human rights decisions from national courts in Commonwealth jurisdictions.

United Nations Statistical Division

Provides access to statistics on population, social indicators, the environment, etc., on a country basis. Some information is subscriber only.

United Nations Treaty Database

The United Nations maintains a database of the text of all UN Conventions and their current status with reference to countries that have signed or ratified the instrument.

Women Watch

WomenWatch is a joint UN project to create a core Internet space on global women's issues. It was created to monitor the results of the Fourth World Conference on Women, held in Beijing in 1995. Its website contains statistics about women worldwide, gender training materials, and a good practices database. There is also statistical information on literary, employment, population, education, and economic achievement.

Stop-traffic

Stop-Traffic is an electronic list which addresses human rights abuses associated with trafficking in persons for forced factory labor, domestic servitude, forced prostitution, forced agricultural labor and other forms of forced labor. The list, which is maintained by Program for Appropriate Technology in Health, strongly emphasises the public health issues associated with trafficking.

Anti-slavery International

Anti-slavery International was set up in 1839 with the specific objective of ending slavery throughout the world. The organization works on the issues of bonded labour, child labour, and trafficking. The website offers PDF versions of a paper on witness protection in the prosecution of traffickers and the EU Framework Decision on Combatting Trafficking in Human Beings.

Asian Human Rights Commission

The Asian Human Rights Commission issues reports and articles on various human rights issues across the continent.

Asian Research Center for Migration

Asia-Pacific Human Rights Information

This organization offers human rights training and Focus, a quarterly newsletter containing analytical reports on human rights issues in the Asia-Pacific. Both the web site and the newsletter are available both in Japanese or English. Click here.

Childwatch International

Childwatch International is a worldwide, nonprofit, non-governmental network of institutions which initiates and coordinates research and information projects on children's living conditions and the implementation of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.

Coalition to Abolish Slavery and Trafficking

A coalition of non-profit agencies, service providers and activists, the Coalition to Abolish Slavery & Trafficking's mission is to assist persons trafficked for the purpose of forced labor and slavery-like practices.

The Cananadian Catolic Organization for Development and Peace is one of Canada's leading international development agencies. Since 1967 we have helped improve living and working conditions in 70 countries around the globe.

European Research Centre on Migration & Ethnic Relations

ERCOMER is a European research centre with a strong interest in comparative research in the fields of international migration, ethnic relations, racism and ethnic conflict within the European context.

Human Rights Watch

Human Rights Watch is an independent, nongovernmental organization, supported by contributions from private individuals and foundations worldwide. Human Rights Watch researchers conduct fact-finding investigations into human rights abuses in all regions of the world. Human Rights Watch then publishes those findings in dozens of books and  reports every year, generating extensive coverage in local and international media.

Global March Against Child Labour

The Global March Against Child Labor assesses the impact of and lobbies for the ratification and implementation of the ILO Convention against the worst forms of child labour. The web site includes country-specific reports and data on the worst forms of child labor, including many links to information on child slavery and child trafficking.

International Human Rights Law Group.

The International Human Rights Law Group's Initiative Against Trafficking in Persons will be  producing an analysis of the new Trafficking Protocol as well as the new US anti-trafficking law.  It also works with the Cambodian Defender's Project to provide training to increase the availability of legal representation for trafficked persons and to collect data on legal responses.

Migration Forum in Asia

The Migrant Forum in Asia is a network of independent grassroots migrant advocacy and support organizations based throughout Asia. Our principles of unity are based  upon a common platform of advocating for and supporting the struggle of migrant workers.

UNESCO Project on Prevention of HIV/AIDS among Ethnic Minorities of the Upper Mekong Region
