A short history of UN/LESA Bangkok, Thailand

• The Universe was born about 15 billion years ago.
• The UN was born about 60 years ago.
• During the last 20 years there have been several UN efforts to tap into the rich source of the expatriate spouses workforce.
• Efforts culminated in the publication of the Joint Guidance Note on the Employment of Expatriate Spouses.
• End of last year a draft of the UN/LESA By-Laws was prepared and is circulating for comments.
• The UN/LESA web presence is taking shape since middle of January 2005.
